Model organisms include unicellular bacteria, yeasts, various plants and vertebrate animals, such as fish and mice. Living models are critical for advancement of scientific knowledge and application to human welfare, since they allow discovery of biological processes in an experimental setting. The best model organisms are small, easy to maintain and manipulate. Short lifespans are helpful, as many generations can be examined.

As a biologist and scientist you work with one specific organism as a model for your research in either embryonic development, aging, or human disease. Please explain the biology of the organism and how it is used in your research. Why did you choose this particular organism over other species? Expand on the topic presented by your classmates in your responses and suggest other model organisms or novel techniques which might be useful. 300 words APA format.
