RCM about (Pump or Motor )in the Oil and Gas industry or station
Reliability Centred Maintenance and its Applications in Industry Asset management in the Oil and Gas industry offshore installations, manufacturing, aerospace, railway, etc...are challenged with ageing and degradation of assets and lack of effective maintenance strategy. The increased uncertainty associated with failure and performance during the lifetime of assets is nowa strategic concern to many asset owners. Contracting out maintenance management activities, as well as the change from certification to verification, have also contributed to a loss of corporate knowledge, e.g. on the design criteria, the history of inspection, repair, failures(including accidental damage) has impact on understanding of the current condition of many assets. It is evident from the above that, the ongoing maintenance routine of operational assets without formal recognition of the effect of failure modes, and mitigating measures of risk of failureas an explicit activityis a major challenge. In this coursework you are expected to identify safety critical asset from your company or elsewhere. Discuss the operating context of the selected asset using the RCM approach. Identify parameters and relevant data information that are needed to be collected. Identify regulatory practices and performance standards associated with the safety and environmental elements where necessary. Then carry out a full RCM analysis on the asset(producing an Information Worksheet and a Decision Worksheet diagram, see examples incourse notes and Moubray's book). There should be at least 6 functions and a reasonable number of failure modes(identify the critical functional failure modes and their ranking). Your description should include the benefits of the RCM process.
Assessment criteria [1]-Use font size 12, Times New Roman, establish a coherent structure (showing consistency between report Sections, maintain 1500 words)(5%)[2]-Discuss the challenges of failure, maintenance, ageing etc...associate with the asset select to just the appropriateness of using the RCM approach.(10%)[3]-The Operating Context should clearly define the Primary and Secondary functions (ESCAPES) including the functional performance standards.(25%)[4]-Conduct RCM II Analysis, the Information Worksheet should start with the Primary function, which should always be prefixed with the number 1. Standard (RCMII) numbering and lettering should be used for all other functions and functional failures.(20%)[5]-The Decision worksheet should also follow standard (RCMII) numbering and lettering. It should detail if the fault is Hidden has Safety and Environmental consequences or Operational / Non operational consequences.(20%)[6]-Calculate and present your Risk Priority Number and discuss strategy set out an implementation planfor RCM II outcomes. (15%)[7]-References and relevant sources (use Harvard style.
