Specific technical requirements and constraints in this project are:
• The concrete foundation in ‘Zone 6' should commence only after 3 weeks of completing driven piles in that zone.
• The concrete foundation in ‘Zone 8' should commence only after 4 weeks of completing driven piles in that zone.
• The prefabricated concrete slabs should be placed on concrete columns at least 2 weeks after the supporting columns are cast, and the slabs resting on retaining walls should wait at least 3 weeks after the concerned retaining walls are cast
• Fill in ‘Zone 1' should commence at least 2 weeks after completion of the retaining wall in ‘Zone 2'
• Activity ‘H1' in all zones could commence soon after completion of all preceding activities.
Sub-Problem (i) of Problem 1 in Assignment 2
Prepare the precedence network diagram and identify the critical path(s).
Sub-Problem (ii) of Problem 1 in Assignment 2
Calculate the following values for all the activities: (a) earliest start, (b) latest start, (c) earliest finish, (d) latest finish, (e) total float, and (f) free float
Sub-Problem (iii) of Problem 1 in Assignment 2
a. Identify four vital/ essential material resources for this project. Discuss your plans for the storage of any one key material resource that will be employed in this project
OR
b. Identify four vital/ essential equipment resources for this project. Discuss your measures to ensure the productivity of any one key equipment resource that will be employed in this project
Sub-Problem (iv) of Problem 1 in Assignment 2
Prepare for this project: (a) a work breakdown structure (WBS); OR (b) a resource breakdown structure (RBS)
Problem (2) of Assignment 2:
After three months of commencing the project Alpha Theta (mentioned in Problem 1 of this assignment), your organisation Rho Delta need to commence another project Beta Gamma for the same client to repair three bridges in the region that were affected by recent floods. The AON (i.e. ‘activity on node') network for the project Beta Gamma is shown in the Figure below. Assume all 7 days are working days in every week in this project. Specific details of resource requirements for various activities of this bridge repair contract project Beta Gamma are given in the following Table.

You are required to:
(i) Allocate requisite resources for all activities in this project Beta;
(ii) Carry our resource levelling and compare/ discuss options;
(iii) Discuss your strategies for allocating and levelling multiple resources (including expendable and non-expendable categories) across ;
Problem (3) of Assignment 2:
Already your organisation Rho Delta is having a large ongoing infrastructure development project in this region. In an audit monitoring of this 5-year infrastructure development project having overall budget of 9 billions, the observation at a particular instance in the 4th year indicates that the project has been 87% completed overall and the corresponding "To Complete Performance Index" (TCPI) is 1.265. The Cost Performance Index and Schedule Performance Index figures at that time of audit observation are 1.389 and 0.98. You are required to appraise the current situation as well as completion potentials and then briefly discuss your strategies/ recommendations from project control perspectives.
