Miles and Coltrane agree to travel together in Miles' car to a concert. Coltrane, a learner driver, convinces Miles to let him drive. While driving, Coltrane takes his hands off the wheel to turn up the car stereo. Coltrane fails to see Quincy, who is on the pedestrian crossing. Quincy sees the car coming towards him but does not get out of the path of the car. The car collides with Quincy, fracturing his arm. The car is totally destroyed but Miles and Coltrane are unhurt. Quincy receives treatment in Verve Hospital where he is operated on by Doctor Getz. Quincy loses 20% mobility in his arm. The day after Quincy's operation, new developments in fracture realignment are published in medical journals. The 20% loss of mobility suffered by Quincy would have been avoided if the latest developments in fracture realignment had been used in the operation performed by Doctor Getz. Quincy is a pianist. As a result of his injury, he is unable to play for eight weeks and loses three concert bookings. He also has to cancel an audition with a record company for an album deal worth two million dollars.
