DNA typing is a catch-all term for a wide range of methods for studying genetic variations. According to DNA Typing, each method has its own advantages and limitations and each is a t a different state of technical development (National Academics Press, 1992, pg. 51). However, each DNA typing method involves three steps which are 1) Laboratory analysis of samples determines their genetic-marker types at multiple sites of potential variation.
