My greatest memory failure is absentmindedness. I am always losing my car keys, and I usually forget people's names that I've just been introduced to. I also come out of the mall and forget where I parked my car, and I'm always forgetting where I placed a particular tool when I'm working on a project. What I learned about myself as a result of this is that I am simply not paying attention, and I'm rarely in the present. My mind often wanders to the future or the past and I'm rarely in the here-and-now. What I need to do to overcome this memory failure is to make conscious attempts to stay in the present. If I allow myself to remain on autopilot then my memory will naturally fail me.

Identify/name which memory failure is most common to you? Provide examples. What have you learned about yourself because of your memory failure? What can you do to overcome it?
