We know that the overall health of one's community can impact an individual's health. Furthermore, we know maternal and infant mortality rates can indicate the health and welfare of a whole community. Due to this, many communities have developed resources to aid those in their childbearing years. These resources may be general to provide overall assistance, or they can be specific to a particular hardship or complication. This discussion post gives students the opportunity to see the challenges the childbearing patient faces and their available resources.

Tasks

Thinking back to your clinical experience this semester, what are some of the challenges the patient population you served faced? Are there services within the community to help lessen the impact of the challenges (and are they accessible)? What services would be helpful for the community surrounding the clinical setting, and how might they benefit the OB population?
