YOU have to design a conveyor belt to haul ore, density 1500 kg/loose m3, from 400 m underground to surface up a 15° incline in an underground mine. Peak capacity is to be 3000 tonne/hr, belt speed is advised to be 3 m/s. Assume that the drive has automatic take-up, lagged pulley and a 270° arc of contact. The motor drive efficiency is 0.83.
The design should include (but is not limited to):
a. Selection of the belt type
b. Belt width
c. Troughing angle
Surcharge angle
d. Torque and power requirements
e. Motor selection
f. Account for starting and stopping
g. Emergency stop procedures
h. Start-up currents
