Gross income from sales $20 million

Accumulated business expenses $5.5 million

Depreciation charges on assets $3.5 million

3. The Ogi Corporation, a construction company, purchased a used pickup truck for $22,000 and used MACRS depreciation in the income tax return. During the time the company had the truck, they estimated that it saved $8,000 a year. At the end of 4 years, Ogi sold the truck for $5,000. The combined federal and state income tax rate for Ogi is 30%. Compute the after-tax rate of return for the truck.

4. Fleet Fleet rental car company purchased 10 new cars for a total cost fo $180,000. The cars generated income fo $150,000 per year and incurred operating expenses of $60,000 per year. The company uses MACRS depreciation and its marginal tax rate is 40% (Note: Per IRS regulations, cars have a class life of 5 years). The 10 cars were sold at the end of the third year for a total of $75,000. Assuming a MARR of 10% and using NPW, determine if this was a good investment on an after-tax basis.

5. An investor bought a racehorse for $1 million. The horse's average winnings were $700,000 per year and expenses averaged $200,000 per year. The horse was retired after 3 years, at which time it was sold to a breeder for $175,000.
