Implement Interventions with Older People at Risk

Margaret is 75 years old and has been living at home with the assistance of Jill her daughter. Six months ago Margaret lost her husband of 58 years and has become withdrawn and very anxious about living on her own. Jill calls into see her mum every night on the way home from work and she recently found Margaret on the floor in the bathroom. She had fallen after showering that morning.

Margaret's home is 50 years old and in the original condition. It has steps at the front and back entrances and the shower is positioned over the bathtub. The separate toilet is in a very small space.

Jill and her sister are very concerned with Margaret's deteriorating mental health and the risks of her living on her own. They have contacted 'My Aged Care' (https:/www.dss.au) to assist with an assessment of Margaret and the level of care she now requires to remain living at home.
