1. List 5 Acts that helps with management of environmental and health and safety risks and for each act provide oneregulation that falls under the act.
2. Is nuclear power production a viable option to supply future electricity needs? Why, why not?
a) What are the environmental and health and safety risks associated with nuclear power plants?
b) What legislations apply to the management of nuclear power stations and how do these legislations (federal, provincial, municipal) play a role in reducing risks
You work as a environmental risk assessor for the City of Hamilton and is tasked assessing a manufacturing site with leaking tank and air pollution. The site is in close proximity to the community and is situated alongside a stream being used by the community. The chemicals of concern leaking from the tank are PCBs and Nickle which are hazardous to human and ecological health. Heavy metals are being discharged through the stack causing local and cross boundary contamination. These contaminants are present in the soil, groundwater and surface water.
a) Using a conceptual site model show exposure pathway, receptors, contaminant source and contaminant media
b) How could these contaminants in the groundwater, soil and air get into the human body (Hint: look at the big picture, think outside the box)
c) How would you determine the concentration of contaminants in the various media? How would you know if the contaminants are above the regulated requirement? The site and facility will be closed and the property will be developed into a housing development, what legislation would apply to the site?

Indicate the portions that are Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Disinfection and Digestion Process (15 marks).Keep in mind the type of waste generated from the waste water treatment process, can any of the waste be reused or recycled, if so explain?
