The purpose of discussion posts is to provide students with opportunities to engage with the course material and make explicit connections to everyday life. In the span of the semester, we cannot cover all the topics related to disability, so this is a chance to highlight topics that are important to you that may not be included in the syllabus. As a reminder, students are only required to complete five out six posts. All discussions posts will comprise of three components: 1) reflect; 2) share; and 3) respond. Students must complete all three components to receive full credit. Each week a series of discussion prompts will be posted and students are expected to: Reflect-Answer ONE of the discussion prompts using information from course material (i.e., readings, videos, and lecture). Please note, when bringing in course material, students must cite their sources (e.g., reading, author, website, or video). For discussion posts, students may be more informal with their citations. For example, students can state: In the reading "Introduction: Disability, Normality, and Power, Davis provides/claims/suggests/analyzes... In the video "I'm not your inspiration, thank you," Young discusses/talks about/highlights... Failure to cite sources will result in no credit for that week's discussion post.
