In class we discussed two major trends that have affected urban areas over the past few decades:

1. Globalization, which has made cities (and residents) more interdependent and connected

2. Striving for sustainability, which seeks to make cities less wasteful, less reliant on limited natural resources, and more self-sufficient

Choose one of these trends and use examples from your personal experience to discuss how they have affected an urban area that you are familiar with.
