Problem

Develop a menu of meals for two weeks (Monday-Friday) for children ages 3-5. Your meals will include 10 daily breakfasts, 10 daily lunches and 10 daily snacks. Plan the meals/snacks to go along with the guidelines from the licensing rules and regulations.

List the foods you will need for each meal for each day. You will also need to list the amount you should serve each child. This information can be found in the Meal and Snack Food Chart attached to this assignment. Please make sure to read the information above the chart.

Your menu should be organized by day and meal and easy to read or follow.

Keep nutrition in mind - whole grains, low to moderate fat levels

1) Meals should include appropriate servings from the basic food groups
2) Identify how the meals meet the food group recommendations
3) Ex: Peanut Butter sandwich would supply the protein (peanut butter) and grain group (bread)
4) Variety of colors, shapes and textures is always a good idea
5) Avoid foods that are choking hazards
6) Include drinks
7) Only one sweet dessert allowed on the menu
8) Choose at least one fun creative menu item that has eye appeal - draw or copy a picture of it to put on the menu
9) Include detailed descriptions of menu items
10) Summary paragraph at the end explaining your reasoning for the foods chosen for this menu.
