Light is emitted from atoms whenever electrons transition to lowerenergy levels. You have a detector capable of observing hydrogenlight that may not be in the visible wavelength range. You measurethe wavelength of the light to be 397.1 nm. From a separateexperiment, you know that the that the electron ends in the m=2state and so the emitted light is part of the Balmer series. Whatis the value n of the initial higher energy state?
