Maintaining your health and well-being is life-long process. Over the coming years you will experience many changes in your life, such as, getting married, divorced, starting a new job, moving to a new location, becoming a parent, and many more. All of these changes impact your health and well-being by adding negative or positive stresses to your health outlook. Consequently it is critical to maintain certain positive health-related behaviors throughout your life. Give serious thought to which behaviors we've covered in class that would suit you best to support a healthy and happy life.
Consider the inherited health problems you identified in Activity 1. Which risk factors related to these could you change? Then consider your life as a whole. What changes would you like to make or add to your life which will increase your health, well-being and longevity?
Your assignment is to identify five behaviors you would like to change or add to your current regimen. Also evaluate your risky behaviors and identify ones you'd like to stop. Explain the benefits you will receive by adding or changing these five behaviors. Explain the benefits you will receive by stopping other behaviors. Describe the steps you will take to implement these changes. Which behaviors will be easiest for you to establish/maintain/stop? Which ones will be the hardest? Discuss your motivation to make changes or improvements to ensure your future health, well-being, and longevity.
