A box of unknown mass is sliding with an initial speed vi=4.90 m/s across a horizontal frictionless warehouse floor when it encounters a rough section of flooring d=4.30 m long. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the rough section of flooring and the box is 0.100. Using energy considerations, determine the final speed of the box after sliding across the rough section of flooring.

__________m/s

As shown in the figure below, a box of mass m = 38.0 kg is sliding along a horizontal frictionless surface at a speed vi = 7.00 m/s when it encounters a ramp inclined at an angle of θ = 22.8°. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the ramp and the box is μ = 0.0704 and the box slides a distance d up the ramp before coming momentarily to rest.

Determine the distance the box slides up the ramp before coming momentarily to rest. _________m
