Label Information for formatting variables for Data Analysis Project (Jackson Heart Study)

• Gender variables: sex (already coded); male indicator (0 = Female; 1 = Male)
• Education variables: edu3cat [0 = ≤High School Diploma; 1 = Some College (Associate's or vocational/technical training); 2 = Bachelor's degree and above.
• Income variables: fmlyinc (see values below) ; Income (1 = Low; 2 = Lower Middle; 3 = Upper Middle; and 4 = Affluent)

Suppose you needed money quickly and you cashed in all of your (and your spouse's/ partner's) checking and savings accounts, cars, jewelry, or other possessions and any stocks, bonds, or real estate (other than your principal home). • Alcohol variables: alc [alcohol drinking in the past year (Y/N): 0 = No; 1 = Yes]; alcw = the average number of drinks per week over the past 12 months.
• Smoking variables: smk3cat (0 = Never smoker; 1 = Former smoker; 2 = Current smoker); currentsmoker (0 = No; 1 = Yes); eversmoker (0 = No; 1 = Yes).
• Physical activity variables: pa3cat (0 = Poor; 1 = Intermediate; 2 = Ideal); sportindex; hyIndex; activeindex (the latter three variables are continuous measures)
• Diet variables: IdealHealthNutrition (0 = Poor, 1 = Ideal); darkgrnveg; eggs; non-fried fish (the latter three variables are continuous measures and are servings per day)
• Status variables. For example, medication status, stroke status, coronary heart disease, diabetes status, hypertension status, etc, are Y/N variables. So, 0 = No; 1 = Yes.
