Involving people in the decision making process can motivate them and show that you value them, but it doesn't often allow the accountability and responsibility to be passed to them. And, as we've seen, if we create the environment within the team or organization where they all become "yes-people", it can be destroy (if not seriously cripple) the decision making process, and even destroy lives.
