Question: You are serving as a Digital Forensics Investigator with the Middle Georgia Digital Forensics Investigative Service and have been asked to assist in an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Investigation. Other Investigations within your Agency have downloaded 13,866 images and videos, amounting to more than 20 GBs, of known Child Sexual Abuse Material through the qTorrent Peer2Peer software. During the download, the Investigators identified the IP address the files originated from.

You completed a WhoIS Search in order to determine the ISP. Once completed, you subpoenaed the ISP, who stated during the time of the download, the IP address was assigned to subscriber Phillip Sherman of 42 Wallabby Way, Forysth, GA 31029.

You and your partner conduct surveillance at 42 Wallabby Way, where you identified two vehicles parked in the driveway. One vehicle was registered to Phillip Sherman and the second was registered to Darla Sherman. A search for wireless networks from the street showed one wireless network, "SharkBait", which was secured. No other houses were within a quarter mile of 42 Wallabby Way. Records checks of both individuals identified that Phillip Sherman was a 47-year-old dentist with no criminal record and Darla Sherman was a 20-year-old with one DUI arrest on the Middle Georgia University Campus.
