The Pecking Order (found in Library Resources under E-Reserves) interview was conducted with an airline flight attendant sometime on or before 1970. At the time of the interview, flight attendants were routinely referred to as airline stewardesses and were almost without exception women. The second reading - a United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals decision - addresses whether airlines were legally free under Title VII to refuse to hire men for this position (found on the Course Schedule titled Diaz Case). Based on these readings, write an essay of between 500 and 750 words that explores the following issue: Based on the findings of the Diaz decision, what changes would airlines be expected to make in their treatment of women flight attendants compared with the way in which Terry Mason's employer treated her? In writing your decision you must: Summarize the main findings of the Diaz case; and, Relate those finding to the treatment of Ms. Mason in her role as flight attendant. You must identify at least two ways in which that treatment would differ in light of Diaz.
