1.1 ABC Group is a software house located in Australia which designs and develops applications for operating systems. Currently their employees all work remotely and on various operating systems based on their personal preferences.They have their own collaboration tool where changes to code are documented and the latest version is saved. Since they use various operating systems, testing becomes very difficult since what works on one machine, may not work on another.

Recently, the CEO heard about the concept of virtualisation and the benefits associated with it. The software development department head explained how it would make collaborative efforts easier and aid in developing software meant for a specific operating system, meaning now everyone can run the tests on the intended OS using a test virtual machine. He further mentioned that the collaboration server could be migrated through virtualisation as well, in order to increase the efficiency of their devices.

The company took on a contractor, Dorian, to implement virtualisation. Since no one has any experience with virtualisation on an organisational level, Dorian explains that before startingeveryone involvedshould review important guidelines and polices that have been put in place by the government and industry that mayaffect this effort. Dorian's point of contact (POC), Maria, asks if he can explain why, so they can incorporate the knowledge into their own organisation. How would Dorian explain?

Dorian explains that there are new technologies available today which help create sustainable ICT environments, similarly because of how the ICT community is constantly changing, and its impact on the world around is becoming greater, new practices have been incorporated for the same purpose. Dorian also explains that virtualisation helps towards that goal especially when it comes to the environmental effects of ICT technologies.

Enrique says he's embarrassed that he hasn't been keeping up with the latest trends and feels like Dorian may be able to help them in more ways than one, he asks Dorian to explain what some of the environmental things are and how they are related to virtualisation. What would Dorian say?

He gives you the setup files which have already been used to create the bootable media, and the business licence information. Before leaving he gives a reminder that they will need redundancy for the server since they can't afford their entire network going down.
