Assessment Description - In this assessment you will apply the PRINCE2 project management methodology to a Scenario and develop a project management plan and associated documentation:

A final report, completing the report started in Part A - including an opportunity to revise following feedback from Part A.

A video presentation: a 5 minute video, and 10 slide PowerPoint deck with a fixed set of 5 topics that presents a summary of the report to a project sponsor.

Assessment Aims - This assessment will enable you to develop your skills as a project manager and carry out various project management activities.

As a graduate, this knowledge will assist you in work that involves planning or managing projects, or working in a team on a project with a project manager.

The assessment addresses the following course objectives:

Engage in project management processes that align with established methodologies.

Develop a project plan for a small to medium-sized IT project.

Communicate and justify a project plan to appropriate stakeholders.

Assessment Details - This assignment has two parts, Part A and Part B.

Part A is a draft report

Part B has two components - a final report, and a presentation.

It requires you to investigate a given project scenario, research information as required, produce a report of project documentation, and present information relevant to a project to a potential Project Board.

The tasks for this assessment are set out under Assignment 2B Tasks below, and comprise a final report, completing the documentation to initiate a PRINCE2 project, and a video presentation, summarizing the key details from your report to your Project Board.

Assignment Part B Tasks -

Part B of Assignment involves writing a report using a template. This report should complete the PRINCE2 initiation report (via the template) for the proposed project, drawing on the information provided in the scenario attached below.

1. FINAL REPORT

The report will complete the adapted PRINCE2 report from Part A.

The report should be an additional 500-800 words in length. Diagrams, tables, and figures do contribute to the word count.

Your task is to prepare a revised version of the PRINCE2 Project Initiation Documentation (PID) in response to the project scenario (provided at the end of this document). Any additional information required for submission will be included in the report template document provided on the course website.

For Part B, you will complete the report you started in Part A.

Consideration has been given to the format of the Project Initiation Documentation. Since this is a small project, a single document is required. For large projects it is more appropriate for the Project Initiation Documentation to be a collection of stand-alone documents.

2. PRESENTATION

The presentation should be 11 slides in length and 5 minutes in duration. At a minimum, add audio narration to your slideshow.

Slide 1 should be the title slide containing the report title, date, and your name.

The next ten slides should address the project as set out in the task below.

You are required to record a formal presentation to the Project Board.

The presentation should cover five main areas in relation to the project in the order given below:

1. Objectives of the project

2. Project tasks & schedules

3. Project risks & risk assessment

4. How are you going to involve & engage stakeholders?

5. Outputs & outcomes of the project

This should be a professional presentation (enhanced with technology where appropriate) that is effective and designed to inform and "sell" your project plan to your audience.

Length 1500-2000 words AND 5 min video.
