Temperament is "An individual's behavioral style and characteristic way of responding," (Santrock 2023) Santrock states that there are many different classifying temperaments that you can portray onto someone. Chess and Thomas in 1977 stated that there were three basic types of temperament which was an easy child, a difficult child, and a slow-to-warm up child. An easy child was always in a positive mood and had regular routines, on the other hand a difficult child reacted negatively and had irregular daily routines. A slow-to-warm up child was in the middle of it all with a very low active level. Some influences that can affect our temperament at different times in our lifespan would be parents. I grew up with a dad that called me the "problem child" throughout my entire life until I was 18. He would tell me I was always causing problems and told me things were always my fault. That made me always in a bad mood and hated doing things that every other kid would like doing. Growing up I hated change because it scared me about what was happening and what it would mean in the future.
