Abstract hypothetical constructs are hard to characterize, because they are not concrete. So, we have to find out some objective way to measure them. Any measurement we choose is not going to be exactly the same as the underlying concept, but we need that measurement to represent the hard-to-define idea we want to deal with.

Activity 20: Oral Presentation of Capstone Project
Activity Description
Prepare and Present an Oral Presentation on your Capstone Project
Presentations are brief discussions of a focused topic delivered to a group of listeners in order to impart knowledge or to stimulate discussion. In this case it is on your Capstone Project. Presentations are like short papers in that there is an introduction, main body and conclusion. Your presentation should be 8 to 10 minutes in length.
You have two options in submitting your presentation: you can make an appointment with your instructor and deliver it as a video conference; or you can upload a video of your presentation and submit it to your instructor. In either case the requirements are the same and you will be graded using the same grading rubric.
Preparation is the key to giving an effective presentation and to controlling your nervousness. Know your topic well. You will be the expert on the topic. Good preparation and the realization that you are the expert will boost your self-confidence. After you complete your Capstone Project research, you will find that you know much more about your topic than you will have time to present. That is a good thing. It will allow you to compose a good introduction, to distill out the main, most important points that need to be made, and to finish with a strong conclusion.
Know your topic - become an expert
Learn as much about the topic as you can to boost your self-confidence Prepare an outline of topic. Bullet or number the main points
An 8-minute talk is roughly equivalent to 4 double spaced pages in 12-pt. font and 1" margins - however, never read a presentation. Write out your presentation if you need to organize your thoughts, but then outline this text for the actual presentation.
