You want to know if music can influence the growth a tomato plants. You have randomly selected 80 tomato seeds that you divided into two groups. Half of the plants grew with music while the other half grew without music. At their full maturity, you measured their height and you obtained 102 cm for the group with music and 100 cm for the group without music. You also calculated the standard deviation for each group and obtained 11 cm for the group with music and 9 for the group without music. Because the study is capital for the future of music industry you have fixed the signification level at 1%. After performing the analyses you have found an observed t smaller than the critical t; tobs < tcrit. In other words, there is not enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis (music have no effect). You then ask yourself, if you repeat the experiment with more seeds will that allow you to find a significant difference? Show your reasoning in a numerical fashion. In other words, justify your answer with numbers.
