Problem

Case Scenario: Mirabel & Alma Mirabel (30 years old, female) is carer to her grandmother, Alma (91 years old, female). They live together in a 2-bedroom house in town. In addition to caring for her wheelchair-bound grandmother, Mirabel also suffers from fibromyalgia - a chronic condition that causes pain and impacts her ability to perform everyday tasks. The community RN is visiting Mirabel and Alma to change a wound dressing on a pressure injury on Alma's right heel. During the visit, the RN notices that there is evidence that Mirabel is struggling to keep up with household cleaning and that there isn't much food in the kitchen. When the RN gently probes Mirabel about this, Mirabel admits she is having trouble keeping up with the housework and grocery shopping, but that she cannot afford to pay someone to help with these tasks.

1) Identify one issue that would require the nurse to act as advocate for the patient.
