Assignment - Review the Exam Tape, then write and submit a paper which:

1. Summarises your initial reaction or response to this family and individual family members.

2. Identifies 3 elements of context (as discussed in this course) which seem particularly relevant in working with this family, supporting your choice through reference to class reading materials or discussions. Discuss why you think these elements of context are of importance in this case with this family, making reference to observations of relevance from the 'family information' materials, or video clips. In other words, you are making your knowledge specific, not just making generalised statements.

3. Identifies roles and/or rules which appear to exist in this family, describing the interaction in the video clips or case description which supports your assumptions. Identify why you think these roles/rules might be of importance in working with this family. Again, please note the reference to 'with this family', so, again, you are being asked to make your knowledge specific.

4. Identify elements of family structure or interaction about which you believe an intervenor must be particularly respectful and why this might be important in working with this family.

5. Identify goals which you deem appropriate for this family, based on the material available in the video and the case description. Explain why you think these goals are relevant for this family.

6. The written paper should be no more than 1500 words. Additional words may not be read by the instructor.

7. Note: your discussion, as identified above, may also be supported by reference to other video clips you have viewed in this course. In other words, your analysis can be supported by those other clips, but your analysis should focus on the Exam tape.

8. This assignment obviously depends on the particular 'lens' of the student and so students should feel free to write in the first person. However, please note that while the focus is on the content of your paper, format, style, etc., are expected to follow basic APA format for referencing and headings, etc. This is a professional, university level, course, and student writings should reflect that standard. Therefore sentence structure, spelling, grammar, etc. should all be checked by the student before submission. 'Form' does influence assigned marks/grades.
