Problem: Patient Research
Purpose: This problem is intended to develop your clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills through the systematic collection, analysis, and application of patient data. It reflects multiple domains of Bloom's Taxonomy, including remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. Expectations: Students must submit one complete Patient Research problem for an assigned patient during weeks 6 & 10 of clinical practice. A Personal Organization Plan, containing patient data and individualized care planning, must accompany each submission.
Components:
I. Patient Overview (Remembering / Understanding): Identify the patient's chief complaint (reason for hospitalization) and relevant past medical history (PMHx). State the current, priority medical or surgical diagnosis. (This may differ from the original admission diagnosis.).
II. Diagnosis Definition and Clinic: Define the current priority medical/surgical diagnosis in clear, clinical terms. Identify the clinical manifestations associated with the diagnosis.
