Assessment - Video Recording of Reflective Supervision Session
Case Study 1 - Savanah and Louise
Case Study 2 - Craig and Joanne
Instruction:
Effective counsellors build knowledge and skills through reflecting on their practice. It is therefore vital that you can identify the skills that you would use on your chosen couples counselling framework and approach, as well as evaluate their relevance and perceived effectiveness in meeting the needs of your clients.
For Assessment 3 you are required to use the same Case Study used for Assessment 2 to do a 10-minute video recording of self-reflection and articulation of practice as if you are talking to your practice supervisor in a oneon-one supervision session.
Use your selected Case Study from Assessment 2 and imagine you are speaking to your supervisor about your first session with the couple.
The video recording is to take the form of you speaking directly to the camera as if you were talking about your work with the couple to your supervisor - articulating your practice and reflecting on what worked and what could have been better.
In your recorded self-reflection, demonstrate the following:
At the start of your reflection, indicate what Case study from Assessment 2 you chose to use. To save time for other points in your recording, you do NOT have to provide a case summary. No AI shortcuts — Get genuine assignment help from experienced, real tutors.
Consider how you would establish a strong therapeutic working relationship with both clients (i.e., both people within the couple), including any ethical considerations as applicable to your selected case.
Justify the selection of the couples counselling framework/approach that you would use while working with this couple.
Reflect on how you would apply the selected couples counselling framework/approach to support the couple considering their presenting concerns, including navigating the conflict/disagreement.
Identify and reflect on potential challenges (e.g., your blind spots, efficacy in using micro-counselling skills or specific techniques from the selected counselling approach, or challenges in the clients' presentation).
Briefly consider how you would manage the potential challenges in future sessions with your selected couple.
You are allowed to include a short PowerPoint presentation with dot points in your recording (5 slides maximum) if it helps with your process. You might otherwise just like to refer to a page of notes you have in front of you.
