Identify and discuss the three things that stand out to you as critical for effective social work practice today from the philosophy and principles presented Building trusting relationships. A large part of this principle is providing a safe environment for the clients to share their stories, problems, and feelings.it helps them feel comfortable to talk about their situations. Using Evidence Base Practice is effective too because it requires that the practitioner, researcher and client work together to identify and determine what works for whom and on which particular situations. Lastly empowering the clients is effective because as you recognize the dignity, worth, and rights that belong to each of the clients, you can instill a sense of self-determination as you guide them.
Identify personal connections to the reading as they relate to leadership. I currently work with vulnerable adults that I have to advocate for and by implementing good leadership it helps me. I believe that Developing empathy and social skills, makes a leaders more understanding and better team leaders. Leadership Increased social and world awareness. A good leader focus on developing others and encourage strategic thinking, innovation, and action.
How do you intend to integrate your faith into your practice? I think the primary goal of social work professionals is to increase the quality of human life and help improve it. Many sufferers are vulnerable due to past abuse, complicated family relationships, poverty and other unwanted circumstances, therefore I think by showing love and empathy for the clients helps a whole lot. It's always good to spread morals and values in alignment with religion. A person's faith, religion, or spirituality has an impact on their health. This is something that social workers should always take into consideration with their clients.
Discussion 2
Identify and discuss the three things that stand out to you as critical for effective social work practice today from the philosophy and principles presented? I have read Christianity and Social Work chapter 10 and the three that I have selected starts with clarity of calling. I started my schooling for nursing and quickly decided that although nursing is a great career path, I wanted more of a in depth relationship to those I service. This I feel is my clarity for my calling as a Social Worker. The second would be the fellow Travelers- as life is a journey and you will walk alongside many other people and have many other connections as a Social Worker. The last would be the opportunities in which I will gain. The opportunities to share my skills and build on them, the opportunities to share resources and allow growth for others to have opportunities and to continue to build on Christian values as a Social Work by intergrading them into my practice.
Identify personal connections to the reading as they relate to leadership. I am a walking book of resources for our area and often times take the lead with helping others throughout our community. The book talks about how our journey matters and how each aspect of Social Work is meaningful in a Christina perspective. God has provided me this journey and it with him that I get to build my skills and advocate for those that are not able.
How do you intend to integrate your faith into your practice? I will do this by being the best version of myself. The person that God wants me to be through faith and love. I will share the love I have for people as a Christian while having empathy for all those I service. I will allow growth throughout myself and my learning and be an example for others. God has selected me to be the advocate for others as well as for him and as I continue this journey, I plan to be the voice for all that I have the pleasure in working with.
