Artefact 2: Psychopharmacology and Pathophysiology - medication diary

This artefact will demonstrate your understanding and provide a resource for the psychopharmacology and pathophysiology of mental disorders.

For this artifact, discuss and explore the following points: Document findings using the medication diary template. You must:

Use GENERIC MEDICATION NAME (and give alternative brand names) & DRUG CLASS (include drug schedule)
Identify and describe the psychotropic CLASSIFICATION groups, (anti-anxiety, antidepressant, mood stabiliser, and antipsychotic) and the psychiatric disorders for which they are commonly used in psychiatry.

ACTIONS (link to pathophysiology) & INDICATIONS
Describe the pathophysiological responses and effect of psychotropic medication for a person with a mental health disorder.

ADVERSE REACTIONS (most common) and INTERACTIONS (including drug interactions if any)
Identify side effects and precautions related to chosen psychotropic medication class.

METHODS OF ADMINISTRATION
Consider safe administration of medication, daily dosage range, route of administration and relevant legal and ethical issues.

NURSING CONSIDERATIONS/CONSUMER EDUCATION
