Case study: Mark Larson, 47 years old; low back pain. Mark is a 47 year old male presenting with unbearable low back pain (LBP) He aggravated an old work injury from 3 years ago. Now, he is having extreme difficulty moving due to pain and stiffness. He rates his current back pain as a 7/10. He has been taking acetaminophen 500mg two every 6 hours for pain.

PMH: Mark is a construction worker. When asked about alcohol use he reports he drinks 3-4 beers a night. He has anxiety, GERD, hypertension and high cholesterol. His current meds include: Xanax 1mg TID for anxiety, omeprazole 20mg BID for GERD, Lisinopril 20mg daily for BP, lovastatin 40mg at hs for cholesterol.
