a. Suppose that a typical stomach pH of 2.0, how many times more concentrated are the hydrogen ions inside your stomach than in milk?

b. If you drink a 12-oz. glass (366 g) of whole milk, how many protons must be secreted into the stomach to maintain the pH at 2.0? Assume all the phosphorus is present as Pi, phosphoproteins, and phospholipids, and assume no charge is carried on the fats other than on the phosphogroups of phospholipids.

For H3PO4, pKa1 = 2.12, pKa2 = 7.21, pKa3 = 12.32.

For phosphogroups, assume pKa1 = 2.12, pKa2 = 7.21.
For the amino acids, use the pKa values in Table 4.1 of the G&G text.
