Let’s say you are the greatest forensic accounting expert in your area. You have testified in hundreds of cases over the years on both the plaintiff and defense side. Your reputation is the gold standard! Every attorney would want you to be associated with his or her case. The opposing party on your case will tend to settle rather than going through a long drawn out court battle. You know this is true because you carefully pick the cases you accept. You like to be on the wining side and not on the losing side.

Now you are speaking with an attorney and she tells you others attorneys know of your reputation and are using your name and putting your name on the their witness list, and it is resulting in generous settlements.

You are shocked and ask her to give you the names of these attorneys. She said she does not have any names. She only heard this as a rumor.
