An EoI is a vital document to gain an understanding of applicants' field of expertise, the broad areas within which they wish to position their research, and of how their ‘speciality' fits into education. In particular, the purpose of the EoI is:
i. To demonstrate the extent to which the researchproject will result in a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge;
ii. To showcase applicants'mastery of subject knowledge and familiarity with current research trends;
iii. To show evidence of how applicants'area of specialization and varied levels of expertise are linked to educational settings;

A central aspect of your EoI is the extent to which your areas of expertise translate into a particular ‘area' of Education (e.g. Comparative studies in education, curriculum studies, educational policy, testing and assessment, teaching and learning, teachers' professional development, reflective practice, Indigenous education, etc.). Please note that ‘education' is not just teaching. You are not required to possess a teaching degree to be admitted into this degree. However, evidence of how your specialised area (e.g. Engineering, Physics, Earth Sciences, etc.) connects with and fits into an educational setting is fundamental to determining your suitability into a degree within the School of Education.
