SCENARIO

Andrea is a 38-year-old non-binary man. He is unable to leave the house due to his crippling agoraphobia. In addition, he suffers from orthorexia, which makes him feel uncomfortable eating anywhere other than at home or with his own cooking. Although he currently works in IT, he is extremely passionate about art. He was divorced already. He shares a home with his 13-year-old son, who also struggles with identity. He cares deeply about the health of his son. No matter how difficult it is for him to leave the house, he always tries to pick up his son when he finishes school. That demonstrates how much he cares for his son. He hasn't taken a vacation in a while. It's a good chance for him to take a vacation or go out with his son somewhere else so they can develop stronger bonds.

Reflective Journal:

You are required to make a reflective journal at the end of their counselling simulation. The reflective journal needs to reflect the counselling session that was undertaken.

The reflective journal must be written from the perspective of you in the role of the counsellor.

a. Describe how you built a therapeutic alliance with your client; did you have any ruptures during the session, and how did you address these ruptures?

b. How you integrated these theory ( Attachment issues, Freudian, Erikson, and Piaget ) into your work with the client.

c. Identify how your values, beliefs or attitudes either facilitated or impeded your work with this client.

d. Briefly discuss your responses to working with this client and how you would seek supervision and/or debriefing.

e. Briefly discuss which skills you believe you could benefit from developing further through supervision and/or deliberate practice?
