On December 8th, 2010 Congress passed the Dream Act. The Dream Act was a law that helped current high-school graduates find an easier way to get citizenship through multiple different pathways. This act helps kids who while being considered not citizens not even remember their native country. All they know is the United States of America. So this act helps them become proper citizens. It also helps these people integrate into the economy and become a contributor to society. It gives these people a chance at a better life. People do argue against the law, however. It has always been an argument in the United States that immigrants are coming into the country and taking things away from the citizens. So people are arguing that the passing of this law will only encourage those immigrants, even more, to come to America. Also, many of the so-called "dreamers" have committed some form of crime to get where they are. Whether it be false identification, insurance fraud, or any of the sort. My own personal opinion when it comes to this law is I do not see a problem with it. I am completely fine with Congress passing laws like these to help those who just so happened to be born somewhere else. Being born in a separate country should not keep you from getting certain opportunities. If America is the land of the free and the land of opportunities why are so many people trying to keep these things from other people?
