Assessment Description
You have been asked to upgrade the website of a restaurant business by the owner of the business. You are the project leader, with 2 other team members - a website developer and a data scientist. As project leader, you have expertise in both project management and business analytics.

The restaurant owner wants to increase both the number of table bookings and number of takeaway orders. The restaurant owner is unsure how to achieve this, as they believe their current menu and food quality are very competitive. They suspect the increase in volumes they are seeking is more likely to arise from an improvement in their website design, thereby providing greater ease of taking table reservations and placing takeaway orders.
This project includes both a discovery stage and an operational stage.

This assessment is to be completed individually. The written assessment will be completed as a Microsoft Word report submitted via Turnitin. This assessment covers L01 and L03 from the first 3 weeks of the course.

Part 1 Discovery phase (1000 words)
Choose a real-world restaurant.
You have been assigned to initiate and lead this project to assist the restaurant owner reach more customers through upgrading their restaurant's web design for dine-in reservations and takeaway deliveries.
Prepare a business case for initiating this project, for approval by the business (restaurant) owner. This includes business problems and KPIs for your project.

Discuss how you will initiate this project, from a project management perspective, assuming the business (restaurant) owner approves the business case. As part of your project initiation phase, discuss which project management methodology you will follow. Justify this choice of methodology, by comparison to other project methodologies that could be followed.

Once the project is initiated, describe the steps you will undertake in the discovery phase, with a particular emphasis on how business analytics can assist in discovering where the current shortfalls may exist. Demonstrate an understanding of the Business Analytics Life Cycle when discussing the steps to be taken in the project discovery phase.

Outline how you will manage your project team - the website designer, data scientist and yourself.

Explain the type of data you will source and how you will lead stakeholders to access the required data, as part of the Discovery stage. What issues might you encounter in accessing this data?

Part 2 Operational stage (800 words)
Assume your team has found ways to enhance the restaurant website.
As the project leader, explain how your project team will now take action on these enhancements.
How will you gain the support of the project (business) owner to action your recommendations? Hint: Consider the insight you generated from the data analysed during the discovery stage.
What role does each of your team members have in operationalising these recommendations and how will you lead this team in doing so?
How will your chosen project management methodology assist you in operationalising the enhancements identified during the Project Discovery stage?
Critically appraise the suitability of your chosen project management methodology against alternative project management methodologies that could be deployed during the Operational stage.

Structure your work as an executive report with clear headings, clear language and well- thought-through ideas presented and explained clearly. Support your work with in-text citations and references.
