Question: Netiquette, short for Internet etiquette, is the code of acceptable behaviors users should follow while on the Internet. Netiquette includes rules for all aspects of the internet, including the web, social media, messaging, chat rooms, discussions, and FTP.

Netiquette is based on the "Golden Rule": Treat others as you would like them to treat you. Some of the other rules of Netiquette are:

• Be polite

• Avoid offensive language

• Avoid sending or posting flames

• Be cautious with sarcasm

• Do not use capitol letters

• Use emoticons to express emotion

Answer the following questions:

1. Search the internet for rules of Netiquette. Post five additional Netiquette rules not posted in this discussion forum by the instructor (above).

2. Do some research to find out how to properly email a college instructor. Compose a short email to your advisor with a pretend request for an appointment to review your spring classes and post it as your second posting. Ensure you compose this short "email" based on the rules of netiquette you have learned.

3. When have you ever been in a situation where someone did not understand rules of netiquette and it caused a problem? Explain the situation.
