Assignment:

For this activity, you will create a "manual" for a hypothetical IT professional who is starting work for a small-scale business with multiple levels of employees. The manual will consist of a combination of curated internet links to how-to sites, along with your own writing to explain why the IT professional needs to know how to perform a particular activity. You can choose whether to approach this as if the user was using Windows, Apple products, or Linux, but be consistent in your instructions.

For example, for the task "lock down a workstation," you should explain what it means to lock down a workstation and why a business might need to lock down certain workstations. Then, you would either explain in your own words how to lock down a computer, step-by-step, or provide a link (or series of links) to a website that walks a user through the steps. The user should be able to cut-and-paste the links and go directly to immediately useful, step-by-step instructions (though it's okay if you have to tell them that the instructions they need "start halfway down the page" or something similar). You may use links we've suggested in other Labs!

Your instruction manual needs to explain (or provide links explaining) the following tasks:

How to configure 802.1x authentication
How to connect a client to a VPN
How to implement an SSH (Secure Shell)
How to implement an IPSEC (Internet Protocol Security)
How to configure and secure an RAS (Remote Access Server)
How to configure a remote access policy for a Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) and Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
After all of the above have been implemented, how an IT professional can analyze the performance, efficiency, and security of the network based on network monitoring and diagnostic software (you may need to propose a specific software suite here)
