Assignment: Roles of the U.S. Army
Chapter Four of your textbook outlines several of the roles that the U.S. military can take. This Assignment focuses on three ways that the U.S. military affects the world: diplomacy, peacekeeping, and humanitarianism. You will conduct some independent and original research into each of these areas. By following the steps below, you will select examples of the U.S. military in each of these roles, research that example, and describe it. To complete this assignment, then, please do the following in order:

2. Identify one current or historical example where the U.S. military is or was engaged in diplomacy as defined in Chapter Four of your textbook. To do so, utilize one scholarly source or newspaper article available through the Ashford University Library .
3. In one page, describe the chosen example of the U.S. military engaging in diplomacy. Be sure to accomplish the following:
• Describe the example you have chosen.
• Describe how the U.S. military is engaged in diplomacy in this example.
4. Identify one current or historical example where the U.S. military is or was engaged in peacekeeping as defined in Chapter Four of your textbook. To do so, utilize one scholarly source or newspaper article available through the Ashford University Library .
5. In one page, describe the chosen example of the U.S. military engaging in peacekeeping. Be sure to accomplish the following:
• Describe the example you have chosen.
• Describe how the U.S. military is engaged in peacekeeping in this example.
6. Identify one current or historical example where the U.S. military is or was engaged in humanitarian aid as defined in Chapter Four of your textbook. To do so, utilize one scholarly source or newspaper article available through the Ashford University Library .
7. In one page, describe the chosen example of the U.S. military engaging in peacekeeping. Be sure to accomplish the following:
• Describe the example you have chosen.
• Describe how the U.S. military is engaged in humanitarian aid in this example.
The Week 2 Assignment:
1. Must be 3 to 4 double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center .
2. Must include a separate title page with the following:
• Title of paper
• Student's name
• Course name and number
• Instructor's name
• Date submitted
3. Must use at least 3 scholarly or credible sources in addition to the course text.
