Read the research protocol summary below and answer the following questions to assess if and how sex and gender considerations are being taken into account in the design of the study: Acute leukemia is a cancer of the blood cells, which is sudden in onset and fatal within weeks without chemotherapy treatment. A study of patients with acute leukemia found high levels of physical and psychological symptoms in the first month after diagnosis. Fifty adults newly diagnosed with acute leukemia will be recruited and assigned to a control group or intervention group. The intervention group will receive an Emotion And Symptom-focused Intervention (EASI), which will include (i) a psychological intervention, including emotional support and anxiety reduction strategies, and (ii) assessment of physical symptoms and treatment of moderate to severe symptoms by a symptom control team. Participants will complete questionnaires at baseline and at 4 and 8 weeks. Some participants will also be interviewed to describe their experience of the trial and of EASI in their own words. When asked to describe how sex and/or gender considerations are being taken into account in the proposed study, the researchers reported the following: "We will control for sex in our analyses.
