Various social problems, including deviance and crime, are not inherent in certain actions themselves. Instead, some people are in a position to create norms and pass laws that stigmatize other people. So we study how norms and laws are created to understand why particular actions get defined as deviant or criminal in the first place. Relatively powerful groups are generally able to create norms and laws that suit their interests.

Provide at least two examples of norms or laws that demonstrate how power controls deviance labels. Examples would be white collar crimes and crimes against women.

Submit a 2-3 page Microsoft Word document or PowerPoint presentation analyzing these issues and supporting your analysis with content from your course text and other academic sources to the Discussion Area. Be sure to use proper APA formatting.
