Topic:

For the next five weeks you need to keep a daily account of the substances that you take whether this is food (junk food), drinks (soda, sweet tea, alcohol), prescriptions (those prescribed from your doctor that you cannot live without), over the counter (allergy pills, nose sprays, diet pills) and anything else that you are addicted to. You need to write how you are feeling without this substance and the struggles you are having trying to stop the habit. During this five weeks, you need to see how many of these substances you can live without and your plan on how you are going to do this. On week 6 you will submit all of the above and with an essay explaining or rationalizing your findings.

You need to have the following in this assignment:

1-2 pages is to be written in 1st person to explain the substance or behavior from which you are abstaining. (e.g. caffeine you have always been there for me in the morning)

How my addictive substance/behavior is loved and a consistent friend.
How my addictive substance/behavior appears to my senses, "healing" or "balm" to my emotional wounds.
How my addictive substance/behavior controls me and what is the cost?

MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 2 PAGES.

Here is a little information of one of my bad habits that I have, you can feel in the rest as you write:

You can write on sodas. I have a very bad habit of drinking sodas, specifically Coca Colas. I have to have a coke every morning or it seems like I am will be cranky all day. Cokes put me in a happy mood, they seem to help my food digest correctly and quick. I drink 4-6 cokes a day. If I do not drink at least one coke a day I tend to get headaches and be very cranky. I can go to the grocery store and buy 4-12 packs for S10.00 so I may spend$20-$30 every two weeks on Cokes. Everyone around me tells me to stop drinking cokes because they are not good for you, but I cannot go a day without a coke.

Do you see a difference between the legal instrumental use of a psychoactive prescription drug (obtaining a prescription from a physician for a medical or psychiatric condition) and using the same controlled drug instrumentally, but without benefit of a prescription?

2. Choose one media from the lesson to research. Write a 500 word paper which discusses the complexities of this media and which gives detailed examples of at least one artist who used this media. Remember to cite references.
