Suppose the leaf jig in Figure 25-A could be improved by replacing the screw clamp with swing clamps. See Figure 25-A. Many things are needed to be able to cost justify the improvement in the jig. This problem requires that the engineer estimate or determine the following:

1. How much time is saved with a swing clamp (in the loading and unloading) cycle?

2. How much does a swing clamp cost?

3. How much will it cost to modify the existing jig? Currently, for this job, the machining cycle time to drill the hole is 30 sec, the unload/load time is 30 sec, the operator is getting $12/hr, and the machine cost is $30/hr.
