Critical Reflection Learning Activities
Assignment Info: Using the "What? So What? Now, What?" Critical Reflection Model, students will select from the list of experiential learning activities at various points in the course and create individual critical reflections. You must use two learning activities (i.e., one movie and one museum visit, NOT two movies - 1 learning activity PER reflection).This Critical Reflection Model will assist you with deeper insights from the selected experiences, allowing you to move past listing facts. Here is a guided process for these reflections:1. What? (Objectively report what happened during your experience; this means describing your experience). Without judgment or interpretation, participants describe in detail the facts and event(s) of the experience. Questions to consider in your writing: What happened?What did you observe?What issue is being addressed?What was of notice?How did you feel about that?2. So What? (What did you learn? What difference did the experience make for you?). Discuss your feelings, ideas, and analysis of the experience. Questions to consider in your writing: Did you learn anything new about this topic?Did you experience anything that surprised you about this topic?What feelings or thoughts seem strongest for you as you write your reflection?How is your experience different from what you expected?What do you think influences your view of the experience? (What lens are you viewing through?)What did you like/dislike about the experience? 3. Now What? (How will you think or act in the future due to this experience?) Consider the broader implications of the knowledge and apply that learning to your academic career. Questions include: What are the root causes of the issue/problem addressed?What learning occurred for you in this experience?How can you apply this learning during your academic career? In your life?What would you like to learn more about this issue?
