Carbon cycles through the ecosystem between the atmosphere, organisms (such as producers, herbivores, and carnivores), and decomposers. This natural cycle maintains a somewhat constant level of carbon in the atmosphere. The burning of fossil fuels releases carbon into the cycle that has been trapped inside the earth. How does this affect the cycle and what problems can this cause?

Determining proportion-pro life : If a random sample of 10 people found that 9 were pro-life (i.e., 90%), while another random sample of 1,000 people from the same population found that 550 were pro-life (i.e., 55%), which would you find more significant?
Why isnt the dna visible during interphase : During interphase the DNA is not visible through a microscope; it only becomes visible as chromosomes during mitosis. Why isn't the DNA visible during interphase and why would this be the case?
Hypothesis testing-mean number of customers : Your population mean has always been 9 customers per hour. The sample standard deviation is 4. The sample size is 25. The sample mean is 8.
Hypothesis testing of machine : You want to determine if your widgets from machine 1 are the same as machine 2. Machine 1 has a sample mean of 500 and a population standard deviation of 6 and a sample size of 18.
How does this affect the cycle : Carbon cycles through the ecosystem between the atmosphere, organisms (such as producers, herbivores, and carnivores), and decomposers.
Calculate and interpret z- score for expenses : If member of sales force submits the entertainment expense (dinner cost for four) of $190, must this expense be considered unusually high. Calculate and interpret z- score for each of six entertainment expenses.
Mcq on critical value : You want to determine if your widgets from machine 1 are the same as machine 2. Machine 1 has a sample mean of 50 and a population standard deviation of 5 and a sample size of 25.
In which parent did the nondisjunction occur : A man makes 0 units of an enzyme due to homozygous recessive genes on chromosome 21. His wife makes 100 units of the enzyme due to a heterozygous pair of genes on chromosome 21. They have a son with trisomy 21 who makes 200 units of the enzyme.
Determining testing proportions : A survey dating back to the 1990's suggested that Americans anticipated a reduction in living standards and that a steadily increasing consumption no longer might be as important as it was in the past. (Were they right?)

Estimate the phenotypic ratios for monohybrid, dihybrid, and trihybrid crosses involving dominant/recessive loci? Using transmission genetics and the rules of probability.

Independent assortment and crossover occur during meiosis

Independent assortment during meiosis deals with Mendel's fourth postulate. It can provide genetic diversity among gametes in meiosis as well as crossing over.

  Research potential mechanisms

Speculate on and/or research potential mechanisms which would afford the improved processing. Speculate on and/or research potential mechanisms.

Compute total distance traveled in and speed of diffusion

When doing the diffusion lab where you add blue and red dye to the corn syrup. Estimate the molecular weight of the blue and red dye compute the total distance traveled in (mm) and the speed of diffusion (mm/hr)?

  Conduct a chi square analysis

In a species of plant, two genes control flower color. The red allele is dominant to the white allele; the color producing allele is dominant to the non-color producing allele.

  Evolutionary relationships between species

DNA sequences are used quite often to evolutionary relationships between species. Explain why is the DNA sequence of one gene a less accurate indicator of the evolutionary.

Positive or negative charged at physiological ph

For each of amino acids, is the side chain hydrophobic, polar but uncharged, positively charged, or negatively charged at physiological pH?

Volume of air passing in and out of the resting subject

Does the volume of air passing in and out of the resting subject's lungs each minute increase or reduce due to exercise? If so, was the change due to an increase in the rate of breathing,

Normal regulation of blood glucose via pancreatic hormones

Explain normal regulation of blood glucose through the pancreatic hormones. How is this altered with Diabetes?

List the three specialized dna sequences

List the three specialized DNA sequences and their functions that allow chromosomes to be maintained during the cell cycle?

Evolution of increased specialization in resource

A factor that might contribute to increasing species numbers over time is the evolution of increased specialization in resource use, whereby more species coexist by more finely partitioning resources.
