Problem

Socrates is considered one of the founding fathers of Western philosophy. Your Discussion Board (DB) this week deals with Socrates' claim that no one does evil knowingly. Socrates uses the terms evil and ignorance in a way that we don't in our modern age. In order to understand this concept, read this short article by Alla Zaykova. After reading this article, answer the following questions:

1) How does Socrates define evil and ignorance, and how is this different from our modern understanding of these terms?

2) Describe at least 1 idea from the Alla Zaykova reading that helped you understand Socrates' concept of evil and ignorance.

3) Do you agree with Socrates' conclusion that no person knowingly does evil, and therefore, all evil is ignorance? Why or why not? Get the instant assignment help.

4) If an alcoholic knows the negative consequences of drinking but does it anyway, being unable to resist, does this contradict Socrates' conclusion.
