Question: Globalization according to Jansson is a broad and complex phenomenon. This phenomenon impacts several aspects of life which includes economies, educational systems, health and human services, relations among ethnic groups, patterns of immigration and emigration, mass media, and culture (2018). Globalization also focuses on mass movements of capital, jobs, labor, and culture across the nation's boundaries (2018). Globalization has benefits such as the increasing number of jobs for individuals, technology has increased due to media sharing online, markets for industrialized nations have been created, and technology has vastly been developed. For many, globalization now connotes economic dislocation and increasing inequality, unwanted immigration, and, most recently, a vehicle for the transmission of disease (2020). Some cons of globalization in our nation which I mentioned from Kobrin include a decrease of jobs, less pay and job benefits, the gap between educated and uneducated employees increasing, decreasing working conditions, pandemics, increase of migrant workers to the United States. Other nations are also struggling with the cons of globalization which include inequality, child labor, pollution, less of their cultures and more Americanized culture, and a less rural areas available. It is important for us as social worker advocates to expand our advocacy internationally and help those who are most vulnerable suffering from these issues mentioned. We can create more social policies that prevent and decrease these issues from expanding or developing in other nations as well as the U.S. My question is how does globalization affect vulnerable populations in our nation?
